What we do

In today’s fast changing environment, conventional problem solving approaches rarely get you anywhere. You require a creative and out-of-the-box thinking with different viewpoints and perspectives. A doctorate comes with qualities like strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and a drive to achieve results. A management consultant with an advanced degree like PhD will enrich consulting project teams with his/her own fresh and distinct approach, providing clients with thoughtful viewpoints of the highest calibre and solutions tailored to their organization. Interestingly, consulting firms have realised this potential of PhDs, and a number of these provide attractive opportunities in management consulting. However, a number of high calibre PhDs are unaware of this opportunity, and find it difficult to locate appropriate resources and guidance to make the change from academia to consulting.

We are here to provide a platform for discussion to PhD students/graduates and people from consulting firms, focusing on the following few issues:
·         Explore how receptive the UK consulting industry is to PhD students/graduates
·         Scope for PhD recruits in consulting (emphasis on where a PhD might plug in to operations)
·         Consulting industry expectations of PhD students/graduates
·         Ideal skills a PhD recruit should have (quantitative, qualitative, etc) and how they may apply
·         Typical recruitment and assessment procedure (case interviews, competencies, etc.)
·         Establish any sector/industry specific demands for PhD students/graduates
